Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Sr Manager IC to own and build the merchant and advertiser data marts and related lakehouse infrastructure. You will set standards, drive migrations from Hive to Iceberg, and enforce access controls in production.

This is a remote-eligible IC role reporting to the Shopping data platform Engineering Director. You’ll ship net-new systems within six months, work with a cross-functional cadence, and maintain production readiness with on-call rotations.

Qualifications

• 10+ years engineering experience.
• 5+ years building shared data platforms / lakehouse infrastructure.
• Hands-on Hive → Iceberg migration at scale.
• Standards that multiple teams adopted.
• Experience with a data catalog used across teams.
• Data governance in regulated environments (GDPR/CCPA, SOX).
• Shifting consumers off raw event tables to curated marts.
• Experience in regulated data environment (finance/healthcare).
• Merchant/advertiser/retail-media data experience is a plus.
• Cross-functional cadence with Sales, BizOps, Analytics; Claude Code fluency.

Responsibilities

• Write migration code and dbt models, build catalog lineage, PII-classification, audit capture.
• Implement access enforcement as Trino + CloudSentry policy-as-code; test parity.
• Balance 65% development and 35% technical coordination; maintain on-call production support.
• Collaborate with Sales/BizOps/Analytics to translate business needs into platform work.
