Capital One Shopping seeks a Sr Manager IC to own and operate the merchant and advertiser data marts, setting standards and shipping net-new systems in the first six months.

You will drive a marts-first access policy, standardize Iceberg migrations, and ensure GDPR/CCPA governance with audit trails. This remote-eligible role partners across Sales, BizOps, Analytics, and engineering to scale data products.

Qualifications

• 10+ years engineering experience, 5+ years building shared data platforms / lakehouse infrastructure.
• Hands-on Hive → Iceberg migration at scale on a revenue-attached system.
• Track record of setting standards adopted by multiple product teams (≥3).
• Experience building or extending a data catalog used across teams.
• Data-access governance under a regulated framework (GDPR/CCPA/SOX) with PII-classification, deletion-propagation, or audit-trail work.
• Track record of shifting consumers off raw event tables onto curated marts.
• Prior experience in a regulated data environment (financial services, healthcare, or equivalent).
• Merchant/advertiser data experience or analogous B2B data product experience.
• Cross-functional cadence with Sales, BizOps, Analytics; translating business needs into platform work.
• Claude Code fluency — daily use, skill authoring, PR-level deliverables.

Responsibilities

• Write migration code and dbt models; build a marts-first governance and access policy; implement Trino+CloudSentry enforcement.
• Lead the Hive → Iceberg migration and parity tests; draft catalog lineage and audit capture; develop policy-as-code.
• Coordinate weekly cadence with Sales, BizOps, and Analytics; support on-call rotation for production marts.
• Operate production data marts in a secure, auditable manner; own production reliability and incident response.
• Maintain standards and reference architecture; ship three net-new systems in the first six months.
