Job summary

IDEXX is seeking a data-platform engineer to build streaming ingestion, API-driven workflows, and distributed data transformations on AWS. You will design data models for near-real-time use cases and ensure reliable, observably deployed data services. Strong Python and AWS experience are required.

Location is onsite in Maine/New Hampshire/Massachusetts with regular in-office presence. A base salary range and annual bonus opportunity accompany a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent combination of education and practical experience.
• 4+ years of experience building and supporting production-grade data systems in reliable environments.
• 3+ years of hands-on AWS experience including Lambda, Glue, Kinesis, EMR, S3, SNS, SQS, DynamoDB, API Gateway, and IAM.
• Strong Python and shell scripting skills.
• Experience designing RESTful APIs and implementing CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins.
• Experience IaC using Terraform and/or CloudFormation.
• Knowledge of relational, document, and key-value databases.
• Experience with semi-structured event data (JSON, XML) and evolving schemas.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain streaming ingestion, API-based data workflows, and distributed data transformations using AWS services.
• Develop and maintain REST APIs for data ingestion and consumption.
• Design and implement platform automation and deterministic deployment workflows.
• Develop and optimize data lake and operational data models for near-real-time use cases.
• Work across streaming and batch layers to ensure high-quality data delivery.
• Improve reliability, automation, and observability across the data platform.
• Participate in an on-call rotation to support data systems and services.
