Job summary

Apartment List, Inc. is seeking a Senior Data Engineer II to own end-to-end data pipeline architecture across domains and lead platform improvements.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of data engineering experience and ownership of end-to-end pipeline architecture.
• Deep experience designing orchestration workflows in Apache Airflow.
• Experience with containerized data infra in production and platform reliability.
• Ability to evaluate architectural tradeoffs for freshness, cost, and scalability.
• Experience building CI/CD for data pipelines with automated testing and deployment.
• Experience leading incident response and monitoring strategies.
• Ability to influence decisions across teams and mentor others.

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve data pipeline architecture across core domains: ingestion, transformation, modeling, serving.
• Lead platform improvements: warehouse cost, compute efficiency, and access control.
• Identify and lead technical initiatives to improve long-term health of the platform.
• Drive large, technically complex projects across teams and ensure outcomes.
• Lead monitoring strategy and close observability gaps across the org.
• Influence architectural direction with stakeholders outside the immediate team.
• Mentor other data engineers and analytics engineers.
• Integrate AI into workflows and build tooling for the team.
