Job summary

Stand is building the self-driving insurer by modeling catastrophes and automating underwriting decisions at scale. You’ll own the data foundations: a central warehouse, a shared semantic layer, and robust diagnostics to support actuaries, underwriters, and leadership.

Success means enabling rapid, trusted data-driven decisions with a governance-first pipeline, a sanitized production mirror, and one source of truth for reporting across leadership and products.

Qualifications

• Min of 12 years of experience in industry.
• Experience migrating a live analytics store onto a warehouse in production.
• dbt in production: incremental models, snapshots, tests, and operational habits.
• Hands-on experience with a real orchestrator (Dagster, Airflow, Prefect).
• Track record of building data-quality or observability infrastructure: reconciliation suites, freshness monitoring, lineage, alerting people didn’t turn off.
• Proficiency designing schemas and metric definitions usable by non-engineers.
• Familiarity with authorization and access-control patterns for data.
• Comfort and experience in product discovery — working directly with the people who need the answer.

Responsibilities

• Own the data warehouse and semantic layer, ensuring accurate metrics and governance.
• Migrate the live analytics store onto a warehouse in production with parity checks.
• Develop a diagnostics console to monitor data health, freshness SLAs, and reconciliation status.
• Create a sanitized production mirror for non-production environments and seed non-prod environments.
• Collaborate with Actuarial, Underwriting, Applied Science to understand needs and deliver data solutions.
• Lead governance for metric definitions and promote ideas to productionized models.
