Job summary

Becton, Dickinson, and Company is seeking a Staff Data Engineer to lead the design and evolution of the data platform powering BD Connected Care's AI initiatives. You will own the data architecture, ingestion, modeling, and governance for scalable analytics and ML pipelines.

You will collaborate with engineering, product, and clinical teams to deliver reliable data solutions, mentor engineers, and drive long-term platform strategy, standards, and reliability across cloud environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field.
• 7+ years of data engineering experience with end-to-end ownership of production pipelines and data models.
• Expert SQL with performance tuning, partitioning, and window functions.
• Production AWS data services experience (S3, Glue, Lambda, Step Functions, Athena, Kinesis/MSK/DMS).
• Hands-on data modeling, governance, lineage, and data quality practices.

Responsibilities

• Own the data architecture for BD’s AI workflows across warehouse, lake, and serving layers.
• Design and implement ingestion from product, operational, and clinical sources.
• Develop analytical schemas and feature stores in cloud data warehouse and lake.
• Ensure data quality, contracts, and lineage across systems and teams.
• Lead reliability, monitoring, incident response, and on-call duties.
