Job summary

Perform is seeking a Senior Forward Deployed Data Engineer to own the healthcare-focused data platform end-to-end. You will partner with physician growth, member services, and finance teams to translate business questions into data models and datasets that analysts can use immediately.

You’ll drive AI-first practices, validate requirements, and push back on vague requests, delivering measurable outcomes with fast iteration and clear communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level degree in CS/DS or related field with 6+ years in data engineering or hybrid data engineering and analytics.
• Hands-on experience with Azure Databricks including notebooks, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, and production-scale pipelines.
• Strong Python and SQL, with PySpark and distributed data processing experience.
• Experience building/operating pipelines serving analytics, ML models, and operational systems beyond batch ETL.
• Active daily use of AI coding tools (Claude Code) and familiarity with other leading models.
• Data architecture experience, designing systems and data products, not just implementations.
• Experience delivering data products for marketing or growth analytics (segmentation, attribution, engagement).
• Strong communication skills and ability to present to non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate the data platform on Azure Databricks spanning ingestion, transformation, storage, and serving layers.
• Build and maintain pipelines across Salesforce, SQL Server, Snowflake, third-party sources, and a new cloud-native payments platform.
• Ensure quality/trust with validation checks, anomaly detection, data lineage, and thorough documentation.
• Write production-grade, version-controlled code and act as a product-minded engineer.
• Own architecture decisions across storage, transformation, orchestration, and serving for long-term maintainability.
