Job summary

Blue Shield of CA is seeking a Principal Data Engineer to lead end-to-end data product initiatives. You will design cloud data lakes, data warehouses and data marts, partnering with architects, analytics and engineering teams to deliver enterprise data solutions.

You will mentor senior engineers and influence architecture decisions, while applying AI/ML concepts to enterprise data ecosystems.

Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• Requires a minimum of 10 years of relevant data engineering experience.
• Experience supporting enterprise AI/ML, advanced analytics, and data product ecosystems.
• Expertise in Data Vault 2.0, dimensional modeling, Lakehouse architecture, or domain-driven data design.
• Hands on experience with SQL, Python, DBT Cloud and DBT core; Snowflake, Synapse or Databricks.
• Advanced knowledge of CI/CD, source control, and agile tooling (Git, Bitbucket, Jira).
• Experience in healthcare, regulated environments, or large enterprises preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement cloud data lakes, data warehouses and data marts.
• Lead end-to-end data product delivery and enterprise data solutions.
• Partner with Enterprise Architects, Portfolio, Analytics and Data engineering teams.
• Mentor senior engineering talent and influence architecture decisions.
• Apply AI/ML concepts and practical AI-driven solutions in enterprise settings.
