Job summary

Coinbase is seeking a Senior Staff Software Engineer for the Data Platform team. You will define the architectural direction for data ingestion, transformation, warehousing, streaming, and serving, powering fraud detection, analytics, and AI-ready workloads.

Lead multi-quarter roadmaps and align senior leaders across product, infra, analytics, ML, privacy, security, and compliance to drive platform-grade infrastructure that scales with Coinbase’s high-velocity data needs.

Qualifications

• 12+ years building and operating large-scale distributed data infrastructure.
• Experience owning end-to-end technical strategy and architecture for a data domain across multiple teams.
• Deep systems thinking across the full data lifecycle, including performance, reliability, cost, security, and privacy.
• Experience designing data systems that support ML training pipelines, feature stores, real-time inference, or AI workloads.
• Platform mindset with a product-manager orientation toward data infrastructure.
• Uses generative AI responsibly, with human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs and drive improvements.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical strategy and architecture for Data Platform, setting direction across ingestion, transformation, warehousing, streaming, and serving while driving cost reduction at the infra layer.
• Architect data infrastructure to natively support AI/ML workloads, enabling ML training, feature stores, real-time inference, and multi-agent AI architectures at scale.
• Drive evolution to near-real-time data availability for fraud detection, financial reporting, and analytics.
