Job summary

Hims & Hers is seeking a Principal Data Engineer to lead the Data Platform Engineering team. You will define architectural vision and set standards across ingestion, orchestration, streaming, and infrastructure, partnering with product, engineering, and data science leadership.

The role covers multi-cloud stack (GCP BigQuery, Airflow, dbt, Kafka, Databricks) and includes governance, cost management, incident response, and mentoring senior engineers.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of professional experience designing, building, and owning data platform architecture.
• Demonstrated ability to align architectural vision with business goals across an engineering org.
• Deep expertise in cloud-native data platforms across GCP and multi-cloud environments.
• Hands-on experience with modern data stack and data sharing platforms.

Responsibilities

• Define long-term data platform architecture across ingestion, orchestration, and streaming.
• Chair architecture decisions and drive cross-team alignment.
• Enforce engineering standards and production readiness criteria.
• Own data quality, observability, and governance frameworks.
