Job summary

Vuori is seeking a Sr. Data Modeler to design and govern data models that underpin analytics, reporting, and BI across the organization. You will build a semantic layer between raw data and dashboards, working with data engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders to ensure consistent definitions.

You will define metrics and dimensions, design serving-layer models, and create governance for semantic views. This role emphasizes correctness, usability, and collaboration with analytics teams.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of data modeling experience at a senior/lead level.
• Experience with semantic/metrics layer design (dbt Semantic Layer, LookML, Snowflake semantic views, Cube).
• Strong view on data model vs semantic model; design for correctness and usability.
• Advanced SQL and relational database design.
• Experience with modern cloud data warehouses (Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift).
• Experience with dbt.
• Knowledge of data governance, metadata management and documentation practices.
• Excellent communication translating business needs into technical designs.
• Bachelor's in CS/IS or equivalent.
• Dimensional modeling background (Kimball/Inmon) helpful.
• Experience with data catalog/governance tools (Collibra, Alation, Atlan).
• Familiarity with data mesh or data product concepts.
• Industry domain context (finance, healthcare, retail).

Responsibilities

• Design and govern semantic and metrics layers for BI and analytics.
• Build and maintain the semantic layer as the source of truth for business definitions.
• Create and govern semantic views/metrics layers for analysts and AI tools.
• Collaborate with analytics/BI teams to ensure definitions are used downstream.
• Audit dashboards for metric drift and consolidate definitions into governed models.
