Job summary

Versant Media in New York is seeking a Senior Data Modeler to define, evolve, and govern our enterprise North Star Data Model. This role ensures data is consistent, interoperable, and reusable across domains, products, analytics, and AI use cases.

You will collaborate with Product, Data Engineering, Analytics, and Governance to translate business concepts into shared models spanning Bronze, Silver, and Gold layers, enabling trusted data products and scalable analytics.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in data modeling, data architecture, analytics engineering, or related fields.
• Experience designing conceptual, logical, and physical models for multi-domain data platforms.
• Experience defining or evolving an enterprise data model, canonical model, semantic layer, or common data model.
• Strong understanding of dimensional modeling, normalized modeling, data vault or equivalent integration patterns.
• Proven ability to translate business concepts into unambiguous data definitions, models, mappings, and implementation guidance.

Responsibilities

• Establish the enterprise North Star Data Model and maintain core models across domains.
• Define canonical entities, shared dimensions, reference data, identifiers, and relationships.
• Design Bronze, Silver, and Gold data layers and ensure traceability from Gold metrics to Bronze sources.
• Partner with Product, Data Engineers, and BI teams to deliver governed semantic models and reusable datasets.
• Define stewardship, governance, and incident handling for enterprise data assets.
