Job summary

Blue Cross NC is seeking a Senior Data Modeler to design, implement, and document complex data architectures and models for enterprise data management, BI, and data science. You will build conceptual, logical, and physical models, mentor other modelers, and contribute across Snowflake-powered analytics layers in a healthcare environment.

The role requires 5+ years in data modeling or related fields, with HL7 FHIR, ERStudio, and dimensional modeling experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or advanced degree in a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in data modeling or a related field.
• In lieu of degree, 7+ years of experience in related field.
• Healthcare domain experience preferred, especially EHR/Clinical domain.
• Exposure to HL7 FHIR profiles and resources is a plus.
• Experience with ERStudio or similar data modeling tools.
• Extensive experience with ER and Dimensional modeling concepts.

Responsibilities

• Designs, implements, and documents complex data models (conceptual, logical, physical).
• Creates fully attributed models using ER and Dimensional techniques.
• Governs data assets across stores and defines data flows and security requirements.
• Generates DDL/SQL for views for DBA implementation.
• Updates the data dictionary with governance and business inputs.
• Leads and mentors other data modelers and drives process improvements.
• Designs Snowflake Silver and Gold layers for analytics across departments.
