Job summary

Capgemini is seeking a senior database migration specialist in Smithfield, RI, onsite with hybrid options. The role focuses on leading migration from Sybase to SQL Server or PostgreSQL, designing the target architecture, and coordinating end-to-end activities across data integration, validation, and cutover.

Requirements include 10+ years of experience, deep Sybase expertise, strong SQL and data warehousing knowledge, and proficiency with Java data pipelines, Git, Jenkins, and Docker.

Qualifications

• Experience with Sybase databases, including structures, stored procedures, schemas and data models.
• Proven track record leading migration initiatives from Sybase to SQL Server and/or PostgreSQL.
• Strong ETL and data integration expertise, including Informatica and data lineage.
• Experience analysing legacy apps, databases, interfaces, and data flows to define migration scope and approach.
• Proficiency in SQL, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and performance optimization.

Responsibilities

• Lead current-state assessment and discovery for the Sybase environment.
• Analyse databases, ETL processes, applications, integrations, and data dependencies.
• Define migration strategy, target-state architecture, and implementation roadmap.
• Drive execution of migration activities including database conversion, ETL remediation, data validation, and cutover planning.
• Provide technical leadership across assessment, design, migration, and post-migration stabilization.
