Job summary

Marqeta is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Data Infrastructure team. You will own and deliver platform milestones, collaborate with cross-functional partners, and lead design for components within our data lakehouse, streaming, orchestration, and catalog platforms.

We value strong Python and SQL skills, production experience with Kafka, Spark, Airflow, and modern data formats on AWS. Remote work within the US is supported with occasional Oakland office collaboration.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with a Bachelor's degree or 3 years with an advanced degree.
• Strong Python in production context.
• Proficiency with SQL and distributed systems.
• Experience with data technologies such as Kafka, Spark, Airflow.
• Experience with modern data formats (Parquet/Delta Lake) and cloud (AWS).
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform) and monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Define and deliver milestones for projects on Data Infrastructure.
• Lead design for components and contribute to larger projects.
• Own a component of data infrastructure ensuring reliability and performance.
• Write clear, well-tested code and mentor teammates.
• Participate in on-call coverage.
