Job summary

Backblaze is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for Data Infrastructure to advance our data platform powering B2 Object Storage and backup products. You will improve automation, observability and stability, increase throughput, and guide long-term architectural changes to support growing service demands.

You will design and extend automation and tooling, build dashboards for fleet health, and partner with on-call rotations to reduce toil.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of backend development in an enterprise environment, with OO or systems language experience.
• Experience designing automation frameworks or platforms that engineers build on.
• Experience building large-scale software systems on thousands of servers.
• Familiarity with observability stacks and instrumenting services.

Responsibilities

• Design and build automation frameworks for provisioning fleet infrastructure.
• Extend observability stack with metrics, logs, traces, alerts for fleet health.
• Develop dashboards and visualizations for capacity and operational trends.
• Lead technical design discussions and produce design documents for multi-service changes.
• Drive large feature implementations from design through rollout.
