Job summary

Venable is seeking a Data Governance Analyst to provide advanced technical, governance, and program support for the Firm's enterprise data management function, focusing on cloud-based and SaaS platforms. You will partner with IT, Security, Records, Legal, Compliance, and business teams to align data practices with policy and needs.

The role requires 4+ years in data management or related IT fields, strong MS 365 expertise (Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive, Purview, Entra), and experience

Qualifications

• Four+ years in enterprise data management, information governance, Microsoft 365 administration, data governance, compliance, records management, cybersecurity, or related IT roles.
• Experience with cloud and SaaS data platforms, especially Microsoft 365 services including Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive, OneNote, Purview, Entra.
• Experience with data governance, retention, classification, eDiscovery, legal hold, data lifecycle management, and compliance practices.

Responsibilities

• Assist with maturing the enterprise data management program and coordinating with IT, Security, Records, Legal, Compliance, and business teams.
• Support governance and operational oversight of Microsoft 365 and related SaaS platforms.
• Assist with retention, labeling, classification, DLP, eDiscovery, legal hold, and information protection policies.
• Support data retention, archival, recovery, destruction, defensible deletion, legal hold preservation, and data disposition across cloud/SaaS.
• Provide senior-level support for governance issues, troubleshoot access, migration, and permissions, and liaise between technical teams and business stakeholders.
