Job summary

Bank of Montreal seeks a Senior Data Governance Analyst to improve how Commercial Banking manages and leverages data. You’ll investigate data issues, build data quality controls, automate governance with AI, and collaborate with business leaders, tech teams, data stewards and analytics partners to ensure trusted data for decisions.

The role requires 5+ years in data governance, strong SQL and Python, and experience with governance tools, dashboards, and data lineage.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in Data Governance, Data Management, Data Quality, or related discipline.
• Strong SQL skills for analyzing large datasets.
• Strong Python programming and automation experience.
• Experience designing data quality controls and monitoring.
• Knowledge of metadata, lineage, and data stewardship.
• Experience collaborating with business and technology stakeholders.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain data quality controls across critical data assets.
• Use SQL and Python for profiling, reconciliation, monitoring, and root-cause analysis.
• Build automated frameworks to identify and remediate data quality issues.
• Apply AI to automate governance activities and improve efficiency.
• Partner with business, data, and tech teams to establish data accountability.
• Develop metadata, definitions, lineage, and governance documentation.
• Support identification and remediation of critical data issues.
• Build dashboards and metrics to measure governance effectiveness.
