Job summary

City of South Burlington seeks a Senior Data Analyst to lead data collection, analysis, and visualization informing policy and operations. The role collaborates with City leadership and departments to enable data-driven decision making and open government initiatives.

The position supervises the Data and GIS Analyst, supports data management, and coordinates across IT to modernize data systems and reporting for staff, Council, and the public.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, Public Policy, or related field and 3+ years of professional work experience.
• Experience analyzing data and presenting repeatable visualizations and analyses with data tools and programming languages such as R and/or Python.
• Experience presenting to leadership, officials, and the public.
• Valid Driver License required.

Responsibilities

• Lead data collection, analysis, and visualization to inform operational and policy decisions.
• Collaborate with City leadership across departments to enable data-driven decision making.
• Supervise the City's Data and GIS Analyst and coordinate data systems with IT.
• Develop accessible data visualizations and reports for staff, leadership, Council, committees, and the public.
• Support open data initiatives and coordinate cross-department data projects.
