Verikai is looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join their team. This individual will work fully remote from the USA.

As a Senior Data Engineer at Verikai, you will play a pivotal role in designing and maintaining our data infrastructure, ensuring that our data pipelines, ETL processes, and databases are optimized to support the needs of data scientists, engineers, and business stakeholders. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver clean, reliable, and efficient data systems that power Verikai’s cutting-edge machine learning models and customer-facing products.

Your work will directly impact the success of Verikai’s analytics platform by enabling faster and more accurate data processing, supporting new data integrations, and facilitating better decision-making. This position offers a unique opportunity to shape the data architecture of a fast-growing company while working with complex and diverse datasets.

Responsibilities

Data Pipeline and ETL Development

  • Design, build, and maintain robust ETL processes and data pipelines to handle large-scale data ingestion and transformation.
  • Manage third-party data sources and customer data, ensuring clean and deduplicated datasets for use in modeling and analytics.

Data Infrastructure Management

  • Develop and maintain scalable data storage and processing systems using cloud platforms such as AWS.
  • Set up and optimize AWS pipelines for tasks like model monitoring, analytics, and product feature implementations.

Collaboration with Stakeholders

  • Work closely with data scientists, product teams, and the development team to support their data needs and ensure seamless integration of data solutions.
  • Assist in data preparation for modeling, customer validation processes, and training datasets.

Data Quality and Security

  • Implement rigorous data validation and quality checks to ensure data accuracy and consistency.
  • Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations, including HIPAA, and safeguard sensitive information such as PII and PHI.

New Data Source Integration

  • Evaluate and integrate new data sources to enhance Verikai’s data ecosystem.
  • Develop strategies for data collection, storage, and documentation.

Optimization and Innovation

  • Continuously optimize data retrieval and processing workflows to improve efficiency and scalability.
  • Research and implement new tools and frameworks to enhance Verikai’s data infrastructure.

Knowledge Management

  • Act as the knowledge center for all Verikai data sources, ensuring that stakeholders understand the available datasets and their applications.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Education and Experience:
    • Bachelor’s degree or above in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field with at least 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Technical Expertise:
    • Proficient in SQL, Python, and data processing frameworks such as Spark.
    • Hands-on experience with AWS services, including Lambda, Athena, Dynamo, Glue, Kinesis, and Data Wrangler.
    • Familiarity with event-driven architecture and messaging services like Amazon SNS.
  • Big Data and Cloud Experience:
    • Expertise in handling large datasets using technologies like Hadoop and Spark.
  • Data Quality and Security:
    • Experience working with PII and PHI under HIPAA constraints.
    • Demonstrates a strong commitment to data security, accuracy, and compliance.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
    • Exceptional ability to communicate complex technical concepts to stakeholders clearly and effectively.
    • Experience working directly with data vendors and cross-functional teams.
  • Additional Skills:
    • Familiarity with BI and analytics platforms, with experience in Quicksight as a plus.
    • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and time-management skills.

  • Adhere to all security and confidentiality policies, including:
    • Proprietary Information and Inventions Agreement (PIIA)
    • Acceptable Use Policy
    • Data Classification Policy
    • Encryption and Key Management Policy
    • Other relevant security policies
  • Make conscientious decisions regarding the sharing of information with internal and external stakeholders while upholding security and confidentiality standards.
  • Be available during local business hours and respond to urgent requests outside those hours as needed.

Salary Range:

$110,000.00 - $160,000.00

Compensation varies by role, position level, and location. Individual pay is influenced by skills, education, training, certifications, experience, and the role's scope and complexity, along with business needs.
