Job summary

RLI is seeking a Sr. Data Engineer - Snowflake to design, build, and optimize end-to-end data pipelines in a hybrid Peoria/Chicago environment. You will transform business requirements into scalable data solutions, ensuring data quality and reliability across systems.

You will collaborate with Analytics and Product teams, leverage AI-assisted tools to accelerate delivery, and mentor peers as part of our Data & Analytics group. Authorization to work in the US without sponsorship is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
• 4+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience in Property & Casualty (P&C) Insurance is preferred.
• Not considering visa sponsorship for this role.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and optimize end-to-end data pipelines across ingestion, transformation, modeling, and distribution layers.
• Ensure changes to data pipelines and models are validated, documented, and communicated prior to release.
• Translate business requirements into scalable and maintainable technical solutions.
• Contribute to solution design decisions within established enterprise architectural patterns.
• Ensure data reliability, quality, and accessibility across systems and data products, including monitoring SLAs where appropriate.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex data and system issues, including root cause analysis.
• Optimize performance, scalability, and cost efficiency of pipelines and data products.
• Leverage AI-assisted engineering tools to accelerate development, automate tasks, and improve documentation (with validation of outputs).
• Partner with team members and stakeholders to ensure solutions address customer needs and align to product objectives.
• Collaborate with other engineers through design collaboration and code reviews
