Job summary

Sedgwick is seeking a Sr. Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines for batch, real-time streaming, and event-driven data movement across on-premises and cloud sources.

You will be the core developer for the Snowflake data platform, shaping data modeling, semantic layers, and CI/CD practices, while mentoring a data engineer and guiding analysts in engineering maturity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, data engineering, or related field preferred.
• Equivalent combination of education, certifications, and work experience will be considered.
• Five or more years of dedicated data engineering experience with production-grade pipelines required.
• Advanced Snowflake architecture, performance tuning, and data sharing experience required.
• Experience moving data across hybrid environments (on‑prem to cloud) using batch, streaming, and event-driven patterns.

Responsibilities

• Designs, builds, and maintains scalable data pipelines for batch, real-time streaming, and event-driven data movement.
• Core developer for the Snowflake data platform; supports performance, data modeling, and storage structures.
• Architects and builds transformation pipelines delivering high-quality inputs to Snowflake and dbt AI features.
• Maintains semantic layers and metadata models to support Self-Service 2.0 natural-language interfaces.
• Establishes reference architectures, reusable templates, and CI/CD best practices for decentralized teams.
• Provides direct management and career mentorship to one data engineer, with potential team growth.
• Drives adoption of dbt and evaluates AWS/Azure tooling to optimize data flow.
