Job summary

Sedgwick is seeking a Sr. Data Engineer to design and maintain scalable data pipelines across on-premises and cloud environments. You’ll be a core Snowflake developer, building transformations and semantic layers to support AI/ NLP features, while reinforcing CI/CD and governance practices.

The role involves mentoring one data engineer and collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize data flow using dbt, Azure Data Factory, and Stream Analytics. Remote work options available in the US.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, data engineering or related field preferred.
• Five (5)+ years of dedicated data engineering experience with production-grade pipelines.
• Advanced Snowflake architecture, performance tuning, and data sharing experience.
• Experience moving data across hybrid environments (on‑prem to cloud) using batch, streaming and event-driven patterns.
• Experience with semantic layers for AI / NL search capabilities is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Designs, builds, and maintains scalable data pipelines for batch, real-time streaming, and event-driven data movement across on-premises and cloud.
• Core developer for Snowflake data platform; support performance, modeling, and storage structures.
• Build transformation pipelines delivering high-quality inputs to Snowflake and dbt AI features.
• Designs semantic layers and metadata models to support Self-Service 2.0 NLP interfaces.
• Establishes reference architectures, reusable templates, and CI/CD practices for decentralized teams.
• Mentors one data engineer; guides data analysts in engineering practices.
• Drives adoption of dbt for data transformation and evaluates Azure and AWS data tools to optimize data flow.
