Job summary

Amazon.com Services LLC in Austin, TX is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to own end-to-end data domains within the Security Data Intelligence team. You will design data models, build ingestion flows, and deliver analytical models powering security leadership decisions.

The role emphasizes architecture, reliability, scalability, and collaboration with ASE, BizOps, MapSec, and other security groups to improve data contracts and pipelines.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of data engineering experience.
• Experience with data modeling, warehousing and ETL pipelines.
• Experience with SQL.
• Experience in at least one modern scripting or programming language such as Python, Java, Scala, or NodeJS.
• Experience mentoring team members on best practices.
• Experience with MPP databases such as Amazon Redshift.
• Experience building/operating highly available, distributed data systems.

Responsibilities

• Identify limitations and opportunities in data processing tools and drive improvements.
• Define and own data architecture to match business problems with security, scalability, and cost.
• Produce maintainable, secure, and scalable code and data solutions.
• Define and own infrastructure architecture and guidelines for data management and automation.
• Solve complex problems by designing cross-domain data models across AWS and SDO data.
• Split project work into parallel tasks and drive completion.
• Influence teams' data architecture and software design; mentor others.
• Drive data engineering best practices, Data Discovery, Operational Excellence, and Data Security.
• Proactively fix data architecture deficiencies and propose larger projects with other teams.
• Participate in on-call rotation and own operational health of data systems.
