Job summary

Gates Foundation in Seattle seeks a Senior Data Engineer to design, build, and operate secure, scalable data solutions on our Modern Data Platform. You’ll translate business needs into production-ready pipelines, data products, models, and platform capabilities.

You will collaborate with data and AI engineers, analysts, BI engineers, security specialists, and service partners to improve data availability, quality, lineage, and usability for reporting, AI-driven knowledge discovery, and

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data engineering, information systems, or a related field.
• Typically 7+ years of relevant data engineering experience in enterprise environments.
• Strong hands-on expertise with Azure data services, Databricks, Snowflake, and dbt Cloud; Azure Data Factory and Fivetran preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, operate, and improve secure, scalable data solutions on the Modern Data Platform.
• Develop data products and dimensional models to support reporting and analytics.
• Implement transformations using SQL, Python, Spark/PySpark, Databricks notebooks, dbt Cloud, Snowpark.
