Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a senior data engineer to own the lifecycle of data products, build scalable pipelines, and partner with product and analytics teams to deliver trusted datasets. You will work across Snowflake, Spark, Airflow, and Hive to drive insights, automation, and governance.

The role emphasizes autonomy, collaboration, and mentorship, with a strong focus on data quality and scalable architecture in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software or data engineering experience.
• 5+ years in data architecture, modeling, data management, and metadata management.
• Ability to independently structure and own ambiguous, high-impact problems.
• Strong autonomy, resourcefulness, and creativity.
• Deep expertise in SQL.
• Experience designing scalable data pipelines across large datasets.
• Experience with relational and NoSQL data stores.
• Proficiency in Python or Java.
• Hands-on with Snowflake, Spark, Airflow, Hive.
• Experience with data governance, SDLC, and Agile methodologies.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Bachelor's degree in CS/Engineering or related field (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Partner with Product teams and stakeholders to translate needs into scalable data models and metrics.
• Collaborate with Data Analytics, Data Science, and Engineering to build foundational datasets.
• Design, build, and scale data models and pipelines from multiple sources.
• Own metrics and data products from exploration to production and maintenance.
• Leverage AI-assisted development while ensuring data quality and maintainability.
• Build data foundations enabling automation and AI-native insights.
• Lead data strategy across teams, domains, and use cases.
• Expand access to trusted company metrics and enable self-service analytics.
• Document and promote data engineering best practices across the organization.
• Mentor engineers and provide hands-on technical guidance.
