McGraw Hill is seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer with a strong data engineering background to join our Higher Education technology team. You will design, build, and maintain scalable data systems powering learning platforms and analytics, collaborating with data scientists, analysts, and product teams to ensure data accuracy and availability across the organization.

This is a remote role open to applicants authorized to work for any employer within the United States.

Qualificações

• 5+ years of software engineering experience
• 3+ years in data engineering
• Experience designing and deploying event-driven/streaming data integration solutions
• Hands-on with streaming platforms (Kafka, Kinesis, Pulsar, Confluent)
• Proficiency in Java, Python, or Golang
• Knowledge of JSON Schema and event design
• Experience with observability tooling (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog)
• Cloud familiarity (AWS, GCP, or Azure)

Responsabilidades

• Design and develop robust, scalable data pipelines to support educational platforms and analytics products
• Architect and maintain data infrastructure including data lakes, warehouses, and streaming systems
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, data scientists, and instructional designers
• Lead and mentor junior engineers, conducting code reviews and promoting engineering best practices
• Optimize database performance, query efficiency, and data quality
• Ensure data governance, security, and compliance with institutional data policies
• Contribute to architectural decisions and technology roadmap planning
• Monitor and troubleshoot production data systems, ensuring high availability and reliability
