Job summary

GovCIO is hiring a Data Engineer to design enriched datasets using medallion architecture (bronze/silver/gold) in Databricks, sourcing data from the VA CDW and other systems. The datasets feed Power BI semantic models used across the organization, enabling clinical and operational insights.

This is a fully remote position. You will partner with clients to gather requirements, track work in JIRA, implement robust pipelines, ensure data quality, and document lineage and business rules for

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; 12+ years' experience or equivalent.
• Experience building data pipelines and transformations in Databricks (PySpark/SQL).
• Strong SQL skills and data modeling for Power BI semantic models.
• Experience with GitHub, version control, and JIRA for tracking work.
• Excellent communication with clients and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain enriched datasets in Databricks following medallion architecture.
• Develop, orchestrate, and monitor Databricks jobs and pipelines.
• Write efficient SQL to transform healthcare data.
• Prepare and optimize gold-layer datasets for Power BI semantic models.
• Manage code and version control through GitHub, following team practices.
• Log, track, and update work items in JIRA.
• Collaborate with clients and stakeholders to understand requirements and validate outputs.
• Perform data validation and quality checks across pipelines.
