Job summary

GovCIO is seeking a Data Engineer to design and build enriched datasets using medallion architecture in Databricks, sourcing data from VA CDW and other systems. You’ll feed Power BI models, collaborate with clients to gather requirements, and track work in JIRA, delivering reliable data pipelines in a fully remote role.

You will partner with stakeholders across VA programs, ensure data quality, write ad hoc queries, and document lineage and business rules as part of a collaborative analytics

Qualifications

• 12+ years of experience or commensurate experience
• Hands-on data pipeline development in Databricks (PySpark/SQL)
• Strong SQL with complex joins, aggregations and tuning
• Experience with Power BI semantic models preparation
• Familiarity with GitHub version control and collaborative development
• Experience using JIRA to track and manage work
• Knowledge of medallion data architecture (bronze/silver/gold)

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain enriched datasets in Databricks
• Develop, orchestrate, and monitor Databricks jobs and pipelines
• Write efficient SQL for transforming and modeling healthcare data
• Prepare gold-layer datasets for Power BI semantic models
• Collaborate with clients and stakeholders to clarify data definitions
• Log and track work items in JIRA and maintain documentation
• Document data lineage and transformation logic
• Partner with Power BI developers and data scientists to meet reporting needs
