Job summary

Pantheon Data seeks a hands-on Data Engineer to design, build, and operate data foundations supporting analytics, AI/ML, and intelligent document processing. You will handle ingestion, orchestration, transformation, validation, and delivery to downstream applications across structured to unstructured data.

The ideal candidate has strong Python and SQL, and can design batch and event-driven pipelines with data quality and lineage.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field from an ABET-accredited university.
• 5+ years of hands-on data engineering or related experience.
• Strong Python programming with production-ready code.
• Strong SQL skills and data modeling knowledge.
• Understanding of batch vs. stream processing, ETL/ELT, orchestration, and data lineage.
• Experience with OLTP/OLAP tradeoffs, data pipelines across systems.
• Ability to reason about data correctness, schema changes, and recovery.
• Proficiency with Git, PRs, documentation, and teamwork.
• Excellent communication for technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain reliable data pipelines for structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data.
• Develop Python-based processing workflows for ingestion, normalization, validation, and transformation.
• Work with SQL and relational stores to support transactional, analytical, and application use cases.
• Design data models and storage patterns for OLTP/OLAP and various storage types.
• Implement orchestration and scheduling for repeatable workflows using tools like Airflow, Dagster, Prefect, or Glue.
• Build automated quality checks, reconciliation logic, and operational alerts.
• Support data pipelines feeding AI/ML, retrieval, analytics, and application workflows.
• Collaborate with ML engineers, software engineers, cloud engineers, and stakeholders.
• Write maintainable code and participate in code reviews and tooling standards.
• Help accelerate the engineering team's velocity with well-scoped data work.
