Job summary

Charles Schwab in Texas seeks a Senior Data Engineer to shape scalable data pipelines and cloud architectures that enable BI and strategic decision‑making.

You will mentor teammates, drive ETL development, governance, and best practices while partnering with stakeholders and cross‑functional teams to deliver reliable, high‑performing data solutions in a hybrid on‑site work environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/IT or related field.
• 10+ years of experience in ETL development, database engineering, and data platform support.
• 8+ years of hands-on experience with Informatica PowerCenter.
• 3+ years of experience with Informatica Intelligent Cloud Services (IICS) / IDMC.
• 3+ years of experience with Control‑M or similar workload automation tools.
• 3+ years of experience working with Google Cloud Platform (GCS, BigQuery).
• Strong expertise in SQL, relational databases, and data modeling concepts.
• Experience with Python, Perl, or other scripting languages for data processing and automation.
• Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and cloud‑based architecture patterns supporting batch and real‑time data processing.
• Experience with Agile development practices and tools such as Jira.
• Familiarity with source control, DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Git, Jenkins, Bamboo, Concourse).
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and critical‑thinking skills with the ability to interpret and work with complex data sets.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills, with experience working across cross‑functional and distributed teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deliver modern data pipelines and cloud‑based data architectures to support batch, near real‑time, and real‑time processing.
• Evaluate new tools and technologies, lead proof‑of‑concept efforts, and recommend improvements to the enterprise data ecosystem.
• Mentor team members and provide hands‑on technical leadership while driving standards and governance for data engineering.
• Plan, estimate, and prioritize technical initiatives in alignment with enterprise architecture and development methodologies.
• Drive data modeling, ETL development, performance tuning, and system optimization.
