Job summary

Patriot Software is seeking a Data Engineer III to design, build, and maintain scalable PostgreSQL data platforms in a 100% remote, direct-hire role.

You'll own complex data initiatives, collaborate with software engineers and analysts, optimize pipelines, and advance security, reliability, and observability across Patriot's cloud-based data ecosystem, including AWS services. You’ll also mentor junior engineers and influence technical direction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
• 4-7 years of Data/Database/Software engineering with significant database responsibilities.
• Advanced PostgreSQL expertise and relational data modeling experience.
• Strong SQL and at least one programming language (Python, C#, Go).
• Experience with AWS services (RDS, Lambda, S3, EventBridge, IAM, CloudWatch).
• Ability to design scalable data platforms, ETL/ELT pipelines, and ensure reliability.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable PostgreSQL databases and data infrastructure.
• Own complex data initiatives from architecture to deployment and support.
• Design relational data models for transactional apps, reporting, and growth.
• Optimize performance via tuning, indexing, and configurations.
• Troubleshoot production issues across databases, storage, and infra.
• Develop cloud-native data solutions using AWS services.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote best practices in data engineering.
