Job summary

SHI International Corp. is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design, develop, and optimize data pipelines and ETL workflows within the SHI One data engineering practice.

You will collaborate with customers and internal stakeholders to translate business needs into scalable data solutions and guide the new data engineering practice as a technical leader. You will drive data model designs, warehouse construction, and analytics platforms, while coaching teammates and ensuring high standards of code

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or relevant work experience.
• 10+ years' experience developing data applications, relational databases, and ETL platforms.
• Experience building highly available ETL systems that support critical business operations.
• Expert knowledge of data modeling, database design, and data warehousing.
• Expert knowledge of SQL scripting.
• Demonstrates excellent spoken and written communication as well as receptive listening skills.
• Ability to present ideas clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ability to shift priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Strong ability to work independently or in a team-oriented environment.
• Ability to take initiative and prioritize tasks.

Responsibilities

• Drive data strategy including data model designs, database development standards, data warehouses and analytics systems.
• Coach team members through code and design reviews to ensure proper integration.
• Lead by shipping high quality solutions and maintaining technical excellence.
• Coordinate with development teams, stakeholders and customers for smooth data systems.
• Extend and support a data engineering environment focused on developer experience.
• Recommend continuous improvement of data and ETL processes.
• Participate in optimizing end-to-end data architecture across tech stack.
• Lead documentation, architecture diagrams and visualizations for teams.
• Review best practices around data architecture with internal teams.
