Job summary

CompassX is seeking a hands-on Data Engineer for a short-term, 1099 engagement in Southern California. You will design, build, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines using IICS to integrate data into Redshift, develop data models, and write production-grade SQL and Python.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with IICS for data integration.
• Experience with Amazon Redshift as a data warehouse.
• Strong SQL skills and ETL/ELT pipeline design.
• Proficiency in Python for data engineering workflows.
• Experience building Power BI data models and reporting layers.
• Cloud-based data infrastructure (AWS) preferred.
• Attention to data quality and traceability in pharma context.
• Strong communication with client stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines using IICS to integrate data from source systems into the warehouse
• Develop and optimize data models and structures within Amazon Redshift
• Write production-quality SQL and Python to transform, validate, and automate data workflows
• Build and support Power BI data models that feed reporting and dashboards for business stakeholders
• Implement data quality checks and validation logic to ensure accuracy and traceability across pipelines
• Document data flows, models, and pipeline logic to support handoff and long-term maintainability
• Work closely with client-side stakeholders as well as the CompassX team, translating technical work into business context
• Collaborate with a small group of engineers and analysts, working autonomously while staying tightly aligned with the team
