Job summary

Lower is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join the Data & Analytics team. You will design and build major data-infrastructure components powering reporting, analytics, and decision-making across the business, using Snowflake, dbt, Looker, and Domo.

This hybrid role requires ownership of end-to-end data initiatives, mentoring engineers, and collaborating with stakeholders across marketing, sales, operations, finance, product, and mortgage operations.

Qualifications

• 5–8+ years in data engineering, analytics engineering, BI engineering, or a similar data-focused role with demonstrated ownership and impact.
• Deep SQL expertise and experience with large, complex datasets.
• Experience with a cloud data warehouse (Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery, or Databricks).
• Significant experience with dbt or a similar transformation framework.
• Strong Python for data processing, automation, and orchestration.
• Fluency with BI/analytics tools such as Looker, Domo, Tableau, or Power BI.

Responsibilities

• Design and build major components of the Snowflake warehouse: ingestion, transformation, and core schema domains (including legacy Redshift work).
• Lead ingestion of complex datasets across multiple sources, connectors, data shares, SFTP, APIs, and native integrations.
• Define modeling standards with dbt and build curated models, marts, and reusable data assets to support reporting and analytics.
• Own end-to-end initiatives with minimal oversight and deliver durable, scalable solutions.
• Handle ambiguous multi-system problems, plan architecture changes, and drive scalable design decisions.
• Set high code quality standards through reviews, testing, and documentation; ensure consistency across repos.
• Support and troubleshoot production pipelines and incidents; collaborate with stakeholders across marketing, sales, operations, finance, product, and BI teams.
• Mentor junior engineers and influence modeling/architecture decisions within the team.
