Job summary

Monks is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design and operate robust data ingestion and transformation pipelines. You will implement automated quality checks and ensure data trust across downstream systems, collaborating with clients, engineers, and product teams while leveraging AI coding agents such as Claude Code and Codex daily.

You will work in a fast-paced consulting environment to define data quality standards, monitor pipeline health, and deliver scalable, observable data solutions using

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in data engineering or backend engineering.
• Proficiency in at least one core language, preferably TypeScript/Node.js or Python.
• Strong SQL and data modeling skills across relational and analytical data stores.
• Solid understanding of data ingestion, ETL, transformation, and pipeline architecture.
• Experience building and operating data solutions on AWS.
• Fluency working alongside AI coding agents and reviewing AI-generated code.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain ingestion and transformation pipelines across diverse data sources.
• Develop automated validation and integrity checks that identify data issues early.
• Model and move data across relational and analytical stores to support reliable downstream systems.
• Monitor pipeline health and troubleshoot data quality and performance issues.
• Design pipelines that are reliable, scalable, and observable.
• Review human- and AI-generated code for quality and correctness.
