Job summary

GS1 Global Office seeks a Senior Data Engineer to design, build and support scalable enterprise data solutions using Microsoft Fabric and Azure data services. You will develop AI-enabled data pipelines that connect enterprise data to Claude AI and other approved AI tooling.

This senior individual-contributor role blends data engineering, BI, and AI-driven solution development with production support and governance across GS1 Global Office and Member Organisations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data engineering, information systems or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• At least five years of experience in data engineering, BI or analytics with production solutions.
• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric or Azure Synapse and related tools.
• Experience building Power BI reports, data models and datasets.
• Proficiency in Python and/or PySpark for data processing.
• Experience with AI/ML tooling including Claude AI and embedding/vector search.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain scalable data pipelines using Microsoft Fabric and Azure services.
• Build Lakehouse and Data Warehouse solutions with semantic models and reusable patterns.
• Develop AI-enabled data pipelines connecting enterprise data with LLM platforms.
• Create Power BI dashboards and reporting solutions with strong data governance.
• Provide technical leadership and establish engineering standards across GS1 teams.
• Ensure data security, privacy, lineage and auditability in cloud environments.
