D.R. Horton, Inc. is seeking a Principal Data Engineer to lead the data foundation for the company's AI and analytics initiatives.

The role combines architecture and hands-on implementation to deliver scalable, trusted data products, with emphasis on governance and enterprise readiness. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on builder capable of guiding complex pipelines, mentoring engineers, and influencing architectural decisions across business domains.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a computing field.
• 10+ years in data engineering or analytics engineering with enterprise-scale data platforms.
• Expert SQL and Python or similar languages.
• Deep experience with cloud data platforms, data modeling, data contracts, orchestration, testing, and data quality.
• Proven technical leadership, architecture, mentoring, and delivery of complex production systems.
• Ability to work independently and build trusted cross-organizational relationships.

Responsibilities

• Define modern data engineering patterns and reusable data products.
• Architect and guide complex data pipelines for scalability and reliability.
• Lead architecture reviews and ensure data governance and security standards.
• Mentor engineers and promote governance of enterprise data products.
• Collaborate on decisions impacting cost, scale, and regulatory compliance.
• Stay current with data, AI, and digital practices to create business value.
