D.R. Horton, Inc. is seeking a Principal Data Engineer to lead the data foundation for analytics and AI initiatives. You will define modern data engineering patterns, architect reusable data products, guide complex decisions, and mentor engineers in a Fortune 500 environment.

The role requires deep SQL, Python, cloud platforms, and experience with end-to-end pipelines, data contracts, and CI/CD. Travel overnight as needed; collaboration across the enterprise to deliver scalable data services.

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor's degree in CS, Eng, Info Systems, or related field or equivalent experience
• 10+ years of data engineering or related experience with enterprise-scale data platforms
• Expert SQL and strong Python or equivalent
• Deep experience with cloud data platforms, data modeling, orchestration, CI/CD, testing, data quality
• Demonstrated technical leadership through architecture and delivery of complex production systems
• Ability to work independently, own outcomes, communicate clearly in evolving environments
• Ability to build trusted relationships across the organization and balance standards with business needs

Aufgaben

• Define reference patterns and engineering standards for ingestion, transformation, orchestration, testing, data products, performance, and maintainability
• Establish software engineering practices for data including Git, CI/CD, automated testing, observability, documentation, and code quality
• Design and build complex enterprise pipelines and reusable data products across core business domains
• Lead technical design reviews and resolve high-complexity data engineering issues
• Collaborate on architecture decisions with long-term impact on cost, scalability, compliance, and usability
• Mentor engineers and accelerate migration toward governed reusable enterprise data products
• Represent the function in cross-functional discovery, governance, and operational-readiness activities
