Job summary

EnergyHub is seeking a Principal Data Engineer to design and build data-driven software that transforms millions of energy IoT devices into grid resources. You will lead data ingestion, ETL pipelines, and data warehousing with Snowflake, enabling analytics and ML insights.

You will own system design, APIs, and cross-team collaboration, mentoring engineers and influencing the company roadmap. A strong background in Python/SQL and data modeling is required.

• 10+ years of professional software development experience.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement software solutions that turn millions of energy IoT devices into resources for a cleaner, more reliable grid.
• Design and implement systems for ingesting and managing data from core utility software systems (AMI, EMS/SCADA, MDM, GIS).
• Operate independently to identify solutions, design them, and coordinate work with senior engineers across teams.
• Build influence across functions to tackle initiatives that impact the whole company and align on a shared roadmap.
• Develop methods to connect systems to energy markets and grid balancing.
• Create APIs and tools for hardware manufacturers and third-party software to integrate with our platform.
• Collaborate with analytics and machine learning teams to derive insights and optimize virtual power plants.
• Improve scale, automation, and reliability of telemetry, energy and weather data pipelines.
• Introduce best practices and enablement across the team.
• Mentor junior and senior engineers on teams you work with.
