Job summary

Kentro in Fayetteville, NC is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design, develop, and maintain enterprise data pipelines supporting USASOC's data analytics and mission objectives. You will collaborate across data engineering, analytics, software, cloud, and security teams in a DoD environment.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years in data engineering, strong Python/SQL, Spark, and experience with data modeling, APIs, and CI/CD.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a technical field.
• 7+ years of experience in data engineering, software engineering, or data architecture.
• Strong hands-on experience developing enterprise data pipelines and data integration solutions.
• Advanced proficiency with Python and SQL.
• Experience with Spark/PySpark and distributed data processing.
• Experience with APIs and data from multiple systems.
• Experience with data modeling, architecture, and database design.
• Experience troubleshooting data and application issues.
• Experience in Agile software development and Git.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable enterprise data pipelines and processing solutions.
• Develop ETL/ELT processes to ingest, transform, validate, and deliver data from diverse sources.
• Integrate structured and unstructured data from enterprise, operational, cloud, and mission systems.
• Develop data models, schemas, transformations, and architectures that support CDAO requirements.
• Build and optimize data pipelines using Python, SQL, Spark, PySpark, or similar technologies.
• Develop data ingestion and integration patterns for databases, APIs, applications, and files.
• Perform data profiling, cleansing, normalization, validation, and quality control.
• Implement automated data pipeline monitoring and data-quality issue detection.
• Troubleshoot complex data engineering and performance issues; collaborate with stakeholders.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to junior data engineers; support DoD security and RMF requirements.
