Job summary

BDR Solutions, LLC is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design, develop, and maintain enterprise-scale data architectures and pipelines for a mission-critical DoD customer. The role requires cloud proficiency, large-scale processing, and data governance, with collaboration across architects, data scientists, software engineers, analysts, and government stakeholders.

Active TS/SCI clearance with CI Poly is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related technical field.
• 8-10 years of Data Engineering experience supporting DoD, IC, or Federal programs.
• Experience designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise-scale data architectures and pipelines.
• Strong experience with SQL/NoSQL, data warehousing, ETL/ELT tools and frameworks.
• Experience with Hadoop, Spark, Kafka; distributed data processing platforms.
• Cloud-based data solutions on AWS, Azure, GCP.
• Advanced programming in Python, Java, or Scala.
• Secure data management in regulated environments.
• Knowledge of Data Governance, Data Quality, MDM, and Data Lifecycle Management.
• Experience implementing cybersecurity controls for data protection.
• Ability to translate complex requirements into scalable engineering solutions.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-scale data architectures and pipelines.
• Develop and implement ETL/ELT processes for structured and unstructured data.
• Design and optimize data models, databases, and workflows for performance and security.
• Develop prototypes and PoCs to support evolving requirements.
• Perform code reviews and ensure security and engineering standards.
• Collaborate with architects, data scientists, analysts, and government stakeholders.
• Design and implement SQL and NoSQL solutions.
• Support Hadoop, Spark, Kafka and similar frameworks.
• Develop and maintain cloud architectures in AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Implement data security controls: encryption, masking, access controls, auditing.
• Ensure compliance with DoD cybersecurity requirements and governance.
• Establish data quality and governance processes.
• Support data governance and MDM initiatives.
• Develop automation for data integration, monitoring, and ops.
• Participate in DevSecOps and CI/CD pipelines.
• Utilize containerization/orchestration for scalable deployments.
• Identify risks and mitigate strategies.
• Provide leadership and mentorship to junior engineers.
• Present solutions to government stakeholders and program leadership.
