Job summary

Monk is seeking its first dedicated data hire to own the full data stack, from architecture to telemetry and analytics. You will ensure data correctness, reliability, and actionable insights across the company.

This is a unique chance for a data-obsessed engineer to shape foundational systems. You will design ingestions, build end-to-end pipelines, and deliver world-class reporting while collaborating with product and engineering teams.

Qualifications

• 4+ years building production data systems at a venture-backed startup.
• Scaled systems you built and owned end-to-end.
• Expert in Postgres and SQL.
• Experience with data pipelines, ETL/ELT tools, warehouse architecture.
• Hands-on with Supabase, AWS, Vercel, or similar cloud infra.
• An owner who fixes issues and prevents recurrence.
• AI-native mindset to move faster and build for agents.
• Willing to work in person in Flatiron, NYC.

Responsibilities

• Design and manage database ingestion, architecture, data modeling.
• Own ETL/ELT pipelines and orchestration workflows end-to-end.
• Build monitoring, validation, and alerting for data systems.
• Deliver reporting for customer-facing products and internal teams.
• Propose and ship new data integrations with internal/external systems.
