Job summary

The Phoenix Group is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to drive modernization of our data platforms, enhance data capabilities, and support strategic analytics in a data-driven culture. You will lead cloud migrations (Snowflake/Microsoft Fabric), design scalable ETL/ELT pipelines, and enforce governance across data assets.

You will collaborate with IT and business units, optimize data workflows, and apply AI/LLM insights as they relate to data applications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS, DS, or related field preferred.
• 5+ years of senior data engineering or data platform management experience.
• Proven expertise in designing and maintaining data pipelines, data warehouses, and analytical models.
• Advanced SQL, data modeling, and performance tuning skills.
• Experience with cloud data platforms such as Snowflake or Microsoft Fabric.
• Python scripting for automation and data processing tasks.
• API integration, JSON, XML, and other structured/semi-structured data formats.
• Git or similar version control experience.
• Strong understanding of data governance, security, and lifecycle management.
• Experience with Agile development frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Manage, evaluate, and optimize existing finance-related data platforms for scalability, security, and accessibility.
• Lead modernization of data infrastructure and cloud migrations (Snowflake, Fabric or similar).
• Develop and maintain standards for data governance, quality, and lifecycle management.
• Design, build, and support scalable ETL/ELT pipelines and data models for warehousing and analytics.
• Collaborate with IT, business units, and senior management to align data strategies and foster data-driven culture.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize data systems and workflows for performance improvements.
• Integrate JSON/XML data formats and work with APIs for data ingestion.
• Automate workflows using Python and manage source control with Git.
• Maintain strong knowledge of relational databases, data management systems, and performance tuning.
• Stay informed on AI/LLM technologies for potential data applications.
