Job summary

Blue Shield of CA is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design, build, and operate complex data pipelines and cloud data solutions in a regulated healthcare environment. You will own end-to-end delivery and collaborate with analytics, security, and product teams.

The role emphasizes production readiness, data governance, and automation within the SDLC, while mentoring junior engineers and driving best practices across data products in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 5 years of data engineering experience.
• Strong SQL skills with scripting and automation.
• Expertise with Azure cloud services (ADLS, Synapse, Data Factory).
• Hands-on with dbt, Snowflake, Databricks, Airflow.
• Knowledge of Data Vault 2.0, data integration, warehousing, and data quality.
• CI/CD experience (Bitbucket, GitHub).
• Familiarity with agile delivery and enterprise cloud integration.
• Excellent communication to translate technical solutions.
• Healthcare or regulated environments, Epic exposure preferred.
• Awareness of data governance, security, and production certification.
