Job summary
Charles Schwab is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to shape scalable, cloud‑based data pipelines for the Cloud Data Platform. You will design, develop, and deliver high‑performing data solutions enabling BI and strategic decision‑making across the organization.
You will mentor teammates, lead architectural patterns, and collaborate with engineers, vendors, and partners to ensure stability, performance, and compliance within enterprise data ecosystems. This role is on‑site in Austin, TX.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- 10+ years of experience in ETL development, database engineering, and data platform support.
- 8+ years of hands‑on experience with Informatica PowerCenter.
- 3+ years of experience with Informatica Intelligent Cloud Services (IICS) / IDMC.
- 3+ years with Control‑M or similar workload automation tools.
- 3+ years with Google Cloud Platform (GCS, BigQuery).
- Strong SQL, relational databases, and data modeling knowledge.
- Experience with Python, Perl, or other scripting languages.
- Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and cloud‑based architectures for batch/real‑time processing.
- Experience with Agile development and Jira.
- Familiarity with source control, DevOps, and CI/CD (Git, Jenkins, Bamboo, Concourse).
- Strong analytical and collaboration skills.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and deliver modern data pipelines and cloud‑based architectures for batch, near real‑time, and real‑time processing.
- Partner with stakeholders to translate business objectives into technical solutions.
- Lead proof‑of‑concept efforts and evaluate new tools/technologies.
- Mentor teammates and provide hands‑on technical leadership.
- Establish governance, standards, and best practices for data engineering and development.
