Job summary

Rumble is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design, build, and operate data platforms for large-scale workloads. You will own systems end-to-end, architecting, implementing, deploying, and monitoring in production to improve performance and reliability.

You will work with Parquet, Hive/Iceberg, Trino, Doris, Spark, and SQL across MySQL/PostgreSQL, building scales APIs in JVM with Kotlin (Ktor/Quarkus) and leveraging Redis and event-driven patterns.

Qualifications

• Experience building and operating large-scale data platforms and backend systems.
• Knowledge of data lake formats (Parquet) and catalogs (Hive/Iceberg/DuckLake).
• Experience with Trino, Doris, Spark, StarRocks, or ClickHouse.
• Advanced SQL across dialects and MySQL/PostgreSQL experience.
• Backend APIs at scale in the JVM ecosystem (Kotlin with Ktor or Quarkus).
• Redis and event-driven architectures (Kafka, NATS, RabbitMQ).
• Kubernetes and containerized environments; cross-layer debugging.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate modern data infrastructure and backend services that support large-scale data processing and product needs.
• Own systems from architecture through implementation, testing, deployment, monitoring, and ongoing optimization.
• Develop and improve data pipelines and data lake patterns using open formats and catalog technologies, build APIs and services that expose data reliably at scale.
• Collaborate with cross-functional partners to solve complex technical problems and raise engineering standards through strong judgment and execution.
