Job summary

Safelite is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design and maintain data pipelines, focusing on ingestion, replication, and CI/CD for batch and streaming data. You will help build a robust data infrastructure to support analytics engineers and data scientists.

You will modernize legacy ingestion, create scalable ETL pipelines, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet business needs while ensuring data quality and security.

Qualifications

• BS degree in CS/Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 4–6 years hands-on data engineering or analytics experience.
• Strong experience with ETL/ELT pipelines and data ingestion tools.
• Proficiency with Snowflake or BigQuery and related databases.
• Advanced SQL skills with complex queries and window functions.
• Experience with Python and data transformation tools (dbt, Talend).
• Ability to guide developers in Git version control.
• Knowledge of RBAC, data security and governance practices.
• Experience collaborating across multi-disciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Build and modernize data ingestion pipelines for streaming and batch data.
• Develop scalable ETL pipelines to centralize data into a data lake.
• Create/CD pipelines to automate data workflows and deployments.
• Improve monitoring and alerting to maintain data quality and availability.
• Collaborate with product owners and engineers on ingestion requirements.
• Participate in cross-functional projects integrating source system changes.
• Align data solutions with business needs to drive data-driven decisions.
• Perform duties as assigned and comply with policies and standards.
• Mentor and guide data teams on best practices and governance.
