Job summary

Mount Sinai is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design, implement, and maintain data pipelines and analytics platforms. The role focuses on data collection, storage, and processing for translational research and clinical care, with hybrid/remote work options and occasional onsite interviews in NY.

The engineer will collaborate within an Agile team, work across ETL, data warehousing, and future streaming architectures, and ensure scalable, secure data solutions while mentoring junior engineers

Qualifications

• 5+ years relevant professional development experience, preferably in a Data Engineering role.
• In-depth knowledge of the Azure cloud platform including Azure Data Factory and Databricks.
• Strong SQL and NoSQL Database Knowledge: Oracle, PostgreSQL/MySQL, and Mongo DB (or similar).
• Proficiency with at least 2 programming languages among Scala/Python/ Java; quick to pick up new languages.
• Proficiency in Restful service development, preferably with Node JS, Django and PHP.
• Experience with micro-services and SOA; CI/CD and Observability tools; Git.

Responsibilities

• Facilitates data collection from diverse sources, ensuring format standardization and data quality.
• Ensures scalable, secure data streams/pipelines serving multiple users.
• Works in an Agile team with developers, data scientists, and data engineers.
• Creates infrastructure for insight extraction from raw data across platforms.
• Develops prototypes and proofs of concept for big data solutions.
• Translates business requirements into modern data pipeline solutions and documents them.
