Job summary

McKinsey & Company in North America seeks a senior Data Engineer to design and lead scalable data architectures for AI and agentic systems. You will own data pipelines, governance, and security while mentoring junior engineers and collaborating with clients and cross‑functional teams to deliver enterprise‑grade AI solutions.

Based in one of our North American offices, you will join a global Data Engineering community, work with Data Scientists and ML Engineers, and help accelerate AI adoption

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent experience in computer science/engineering.
• 5+ years of data engineering experience leading technical workstreams and mentoring engineers.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL; able to work in polyglot environments (Scala/Java) when required.
• Experience building AI/ML and BI systems, including RAG, embeddings, and model management in production.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of scalable data architectures for AI solutions.
• Own and deliver data engineering workstreams across client engagements.
• Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with cross-functional teams and clients.
• Design MLOps/LLMOps-focused architectures and observability for AI models.
